Marija verner, Ph.D.

Welcome! I am currently a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale School of the Environment. My research lies at the intersection of environmental politics, ethnic politics, and political behavior in comparative contexts, with a primary focus on understanding climate change attitudes, behaviors, and their implications for policy support and political engagement. I investigate how socio-demographic factors, including ethnicity, geography, and political identity, shape public opinion and drive environmental and political behaviors.

My work has been published in Latin American Politics and Society, European Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Global Environmental Change, and Climatic Change journals. Additionally, I play an integral role in public opinion projects at Yale, notably the "Climate Change in the American Mind" series.

I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Colorado Boulder. Before that, I obtained an MSc in Middle East Politics from the SOAS, University of London, and a BA in Political Science from Vilnius University.
